Clenching Tai, Agumon digivolved into Greymon to save him he throw Shellmon into the air blasted its chest sending it into the water killing it.

Shellmon later reappeared in Episode 41- "Sea-Sick and Tired", when the Digi-Destined encountered previously visited areas while beginning their trek up Spiral Mountain. He lured the kids and the digimon into the Sea by pretending to be a kid drowning. Now in his own element, the sea, Shellmon seemed much more of a threat. However, the Digimon (Tentomon, Biyomon, and Gomamon) worked together, and were able to drive him away just from their Rookie forms.
